Must be NRP certified upon submission and hire.\r\n\r\nJob Summary\r\nReporting to the Director of Cardio / Pulmonary / Neurology / Sleep Disorders, provides a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care services, for in patient and out patients of all ages.\r\n\r\nJob Functions\r\n1. Performs respiratory care procedures in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.\r\n2. Evaluates, treats, and re-assesses patients of all ages, following physicians order.\r\n3. Functions independently and also assists Physicians and Nursing in the determination and application of therapeutic modalities.\r\n4. Assists in the orientation and training of respiratory and nursing personnel.\r\n5. Participates in Code Team and Rapid Response Team.\r\n6. Provides patient and family education.\r\n7. Participates in CQI initiatives.\r\n8. Participates in departmental education activities.\r\n9. Transports patients.\r\n10. Assists the Director with special projects, equipment and stock inventory control.\r\n11. Maintains and supports patients rights to care, privacy and respect.\r\n12. Other duties as assigned from time to time.\r\n\r\nMinimum Qualifications \r\nEducation : \r\nHigh school graduate or equivalent required.\r\nGraduate of a Respiratory Therapy (RT) program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required.\r\n\r\nExperience : \r\nPrevious RT experience strongly preferred.\r\nPrevious patient care experience preferred.\r\nAppropriate clinical rotations during the RT program are considered as satisfactory experience.\r\n\r\nLicensure and / or Certification : \r\nMust have current licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Respiratory Therapist.\r\nRRT or CRT from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.\r\nBLS healthcare provider required.\r\nNRP certification required.
