Position Highlights : 9B Neurology

  • Unit Size : 26 beds, including 22 private rooms and a Safety Monitoring Unit (SMU) with 4 beds.
  • Patient Population : We care for patients aged 17 and older with diverse diagnoses, including stroke, TIA, aneurysms, seizures, epilepsy, brain tumors, dementia, and neuromuscular diseases. Our SMU focuses on patients needing extra support due to confusion or impulsiveness.
  • Nurse to Patient Ratio : 1 : 5 (occasionally 1 : 6).
  • Department Culture : Our team thrives on collaboration, working closely with providers, families, and therapists to deliver exceptional care. We emphasize teamwork and communication, focusing on early ambulation for neurosurgery patients.
  • Skills & Equipment : You’ll utilize the NIH Stroke Scale, perform neuro assessments, and collaborate across disciplines. Hands-on skills include IV insertion, tracheostomy care, and wound management.

    • Qualifications

  • Licenses / Certifications :

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days (AHA)

  • Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois
  • Education : High School Diploma / GED; Associate’s Degree.
  • Skills : Strong communication, critical thinking, and a commitment to patient safety.

    • Your Responsibilities

    As a vital member of our team, you will :

  • Perform all nursing duties specific to your unit.
  • Conduct initial patient assessments and develop tailored care plans.
  • Implement and modify care plans based on continuous evaluation.
  • Ensure patient safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
  • Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to enhance patient care.
  • Provide compassionate care for patients with neurological conditions.

    Compensation and Benefits

    The compensation range for this position is $33.68 - $57.93 per hour , depending on experience and qualifications. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package to support our team members.
