Job Purpose :

The Clinical Psychologist is responsible for the provision of clinical behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and adults.

The Clinical Psychologist provides psychological assessment, diagnosis and individual and family therapy, referral, and follow-up.

The Psychologist works with a multidisciplinary team to assure safe, effective, quality patient care and to promote the mission of OHCC.

FTCA Scope of Employment : Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) coverage is restricted to acts or omissions of a covered entity within the scope of employment of a covered individual.

For actions to be within the scope of employment and be covered, they must : be within the approved scope of the project, including sites, services, and other activities.

Duties, as outlined in this job description and the contract for services, align within the scope of employment for a Nurse Practitioner and are therefore covered by the Federally Supported Health Centers Assistance Acts (FSHCAA) and the FTCA.

Essential Job Functions including, but not limited to :

1. Satisfies Core Competencies

  • Maintains weekly scheduled appointments in electronic health record.

2. Clinical Practice

Conducts diagnostic evaluations of emotional disorders or disabilities, alcoholism, and substance abuse, and of the psychological aspects of physical illness, accident, injury, or disability;

and assigns appropriate DSM and ICD diagnosis codes.

  • Conducts psychology testing and evaluation or assessment of personal characteristics such as intelligence, personality, abilities, interests, aptitudes, and neuropsychological functioning through psychological testing, observations, surveys, interviews, and other methods.
  • Implement evidence-based treatment consistent with a patient’s diagnosis, patient’s goals, and applicable standards of care through counseling, psychoanalysis, psychotherapy, hypnosis, stress management, biofeedback, behavior analysis, psycho educational evaluation, remediation, and consultation.
  • Provide crisis intervention as necessary.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the patient’s electronic medical record.

3. Communication and Collaboration

  • Consult with medical and behavioral health staff to develop diagnoses and treatment plans in accordance with the needs of their patients.
  • Participates in case conferences to assess patient needs and coordinate services.
  • Complete and follow up on referrals to community services, including advocating for patients and ensuring patient access to community agencies.

4. Standard of Care

  • Participates in quality initiative / performance activities.
  • Follows ethical principles regarding patient confidentiality, informed consent, and unanticipated adverse outcomes.
  • Participates in organizational and departmental meetings, educational opportunities, committees, and workgroups as necessary.
  • Maintains CMEs as required by licensing body.
  • Promotes mutual respect and trust working within a multidisciplinary integrated practice.

Required Education :

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology is required.
  • Unrestricted license with Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists is required.

Skills, Licensure and Knowledge Requirements :

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
