Job description

Position : Peripheral Vascular Surgeon

Location : United States Air Force Medical Facilities (Locations may vary)

Employment Type : Full-Time

Position Overview :

The Peripheral Vascular Surgeon at the United States Air Force plays a critical role in ensuring the vascular health of Air Force personnel, veterans, and sometimes their dependents. With an in-depth specialization in treating diseases of the vascular system, which includes arteries and veins, the surgeon contributes to the mission by employing the highest standards of medical care.

Key Responsibilities :

Surgical Expertise :

Conduct peripheral vascular surgeries, ensuring optimal outcomes and maintaining compliance with established medical and military protocols.

  • Engage in pre-operative and post-operative care, ensuring smooth recovery and minimizing surgical complications.

Patient Care :

Diagnose and treat peripheral vascular disorders and diseases, such as peripheral artery disease and varicose veins, while focusing on minimally invasive techniques when applicable.

  • Ensure holistic patient care by liaising with other healthcare professionals and coordinating patient management in a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Military Operations Support :

    Provide medical support during military operations, potentially deploying to provide surgical interventions in field hospitals or similar setups.

  • Assist in devising and implementing medical preparedness strategies for personnel deployed in varied environments.
  • Education and Training :

    Mentor and educate medical staff, residents, and medical students in peripheral vascular surgery techniques and best practices.

  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay abreast of the latest advancements in vascular surgery and integrate them into practice.
  • Research and Development :

    Participate in or lead research initiatives aimed at improving vascular surgical methods, technology, and patient outcomes.

  • Ensure the adherence of research practices to military guidelines, ethical standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Administration :

    Adhere to military protocols and conform to the strict standards of healthcare administration as practiced within the Air Force.

  • Ensure the accurate documentation and confidentiality of all patient records and medical data.
  • Qualifications : Education :

    Medical Degree from an accredited institution.

  • Board Certification in Vascular Surgery.
  • Experience :

    Minimum 1 Year of clinical experience in peripheral vascular surgery, with a proven track record of successful procedures.

    Licenses / Certifications :

    An active medical license.

  • Additional certifications in vascular surgery may be preferred.
  • Military :

    Must meet the United States Air Force's physical and mental fitness standards.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or hold a status that allows you to work for the U.S. Air Force.
  • Skills :

    Exceptional surgical skills with a focus on minimally invasive techniques.

  • Robust knowledge of vascular diseases and contemporary surgical approaches.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and team collaboration skills.
  • Working Conditions :

  • May be required to work under stressful and emergency situations.
