Position Summary :
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Maintenance and Cleaning Technician to help maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary environment at our veterinary hospital. The ideal candidate will take pride in ensuring the facility remains hygienic and fully functional for both animals and staff, while performing routine maintenance tasks and addressing cleaning needs proactively.
Key Responsibilities :
Cleaning & Sanitation Duties :
Clean and disinfect all animal care areas, including exam rooms, surgical suites, kennels, and treatment areas.
Mop, sweep, vacuum, and disinfect floors throughout the hospital multiple times per day.
Clean and restock bathrooms, break rooms, offices, and common areas.
Safely dispose of animal waste, biological materials, and trash according to biohazard protocols.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of laundry area; wash and fold bedding, towels, and surgical garments.
Clean and sanitize medical equipment and tools under supervision or after veterinary use.
Maintenance Duties :
Perform light maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, fixing minor plumbing issues, and patching walls.
Conduct daily inspections to ensure all hospital equipment, lighting, plumbing, and HVAC systems are functioning properly.
Assist with setting up and maintaining animal enclosures, including repairing gates, latches, or doors.
Alert hospital management to major repairs or safety hazards requiring outside vendor support.
Maintain outdoor areas such as walkways, entryways, and parking lot—clearing snow, leaves, or debris as needed.
Inventory & Supplies :
Monitor and restock janitorial and maintenance supplies; notify supervisor when reordering is needed.
Safely store all cleaning products and tools; ensure compliance with safety standards and MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) guidelines.
Qualifications : Required :
High school diploma or GED.
Proven experience in custodial or general maintenance roles (preferably in medical, animal care, or clinical settings).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand, walk, or bend for extended periods.
Comfort working around animals, including those that may be sick, anxious, or aggressive.
Preferred :
Experience in a veterinary, kennel, or healthcare facility.
Familiarity with medical or biohazard cleaning protocols.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, or HVAC systems.
