Intro
Since 1963, Sheakley has been a trusted leader in safety management across construction, industrial, and high-risk environments. We are hiring a Safety Manager to support a structural steel contractor on a large-scale data center build in Ashburn, VA. This role is ideal for safety professionals with experience in steel erection and mission-critical construction who can manage safety compliance in complex, fast-paced environments.
The Safety Manager will provide daily onsite oversight, enforce safety standards, conduct inspections, and coordinate safe execution of structural steel activities throughout the project.
Compensation
💲 Rate : $49–$52 / hour (based on experience)
🍽 Per Diem : N / A
💸 Pay Frequency : Weekly
Schedule
🕒 Hours : 40–50 hours / week
📅 Schedule : Monday–Saturday
Project Scope
This assignment supports structural steel operations for a mission-critical data center build, including :
Structural steel erection and rigging operations
Crane lifts, welding, and bolting of steel components
Fall protection systems and elevated work oversight
Hazard identification, risk mitigation, and site inspections
Documentation, training, and contractor safety coordination
Responsibilities include :
Conducting daily site safety walks, hazard recognition, and safety audits
Leading toolbox talks, orientations, and safety training sessions
Completing daily safety reports, incident investigations, and regulatory documentation
Enforcing OSHA 1926 Construction standards and project-specific safety requirements
Coordinating with subcontractors to ensure compliance with safety protocols and documentation
Qualifications
✅ OSHA 510 or equivalent
✅ OSHA 30 (Construction)
✅ First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens training
✅ CPR and AED certification
✅ Emergency procedures training
✅ Silica awareness training
✅ NFPA 70E training
✅ Minimum 5 years of construction safety management experience, preferably in structural steel or data center projects
Knowledge Base
Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1926 Construction standards with emphasis on :
Structural steel erection and fall protection requirements
Rigging, crane operations, and elevated work safety
Hazard communication and PPE compliance
Silica exposure control plans and monitoring
Documentation, reporting, and safety program management on large projects
