Advanced Practice Provider (NP / PA) - Heart & Vascular ICU

Location : Philadelphia, PA

Job Type : Full-time | Permanent

Our partner, a premier academic medical center in Philadelphia renowned for its advanced cardiac and vascular care, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their Heart and Vascular Intensive Care Unit (HVICU) team. This is a unique opportunity to provide world-class care to one of the most acutely ill patient populations in the region.

The Opportunity

You will be an integral part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team providing care for a highly complex patient population. The HVICU is a 20-bed unit specializing in patients who have undergone cardiac and vascular procedures, including bypass surgery, valve replacement, and complex aortic procedures. This patient population has the highest case mix index within the health system.

Our team has a strong clinical foundation, and we are looking for a dedicated provider who can seamlessly integrate and contribute to this high-functioning environment.

Responsibilities Will Include

  • Managing complex, critically ill cardiac surgery patients.
  • Providing care for patients on advanced mechanical support, including ECMO, Impella, and VAD.
  • Performing essential procedures such as bronchoscopy, central line placement, and arterial line placement.
  • Managing patients on advanced modes of mechanical ventilation.

What We Are Looking For

We require a candidate with significant critical care experience, specifically within a cardiac surgery or cardiac ICU setting. Due to the high acuity and complexity of our patients, we are seeking a "plug and play" provider who is trained in this specialty. Experience in general trauma ICU is not an appropriate fit for this specialized role. The ideal candidate will be confident and comfortable managing the sickest patients in the hospital.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Three 13-hour shifts per week, rotating between day and night shifts.
  • Shifts are scheduled in blocks (e.g., 2-3 weeks of days, then 2-3 weeks of nights) to ensure work-life balance.
  • Every third weekend is required.
  • Excellent compensation with the potential for a premium rate on additional shifts.
  • We have an urgent need for night shift coverage and may consider a provider interested in an "only nights" schedule.
