We are seeking Berber (Tamazight) Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Tamazight, part of the Berber language family spoken across Morocco, Algeria, Libya, and North Africa, is a rare but critical language frequently needed for asylum and immigration proceedings.
Responsibilities
Provide real-time Berber (Tamazight) English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and asylum cases.Interpret with accuracy, impartiality, and professionalism in immigration and legal contexts.Maintain confidentiality under USCIS / DHS interpreter standards.Support both scheduled assignments and urgent / surge interpretation requests.Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.Qualifications
Native or near-native fluency in Berber (Tamazight) and English.2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, community, NGO, or government strongly preferred).Knowledge of North African cultural contexts.Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and impartiality standards.Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3 / Tier 5 clearance.Compensation & Benefits
