Your Responsibilities as a Service Writer Include :
Welcome customers, attentively listen to their vehicle concerns, and ask probing questions to accurately identify issuesTranslate customer descriptions into detailed and precise repair orders for shop record-keepingProvide clear and transparent cost estimates for parts and labor, securing customer approval before repairsKeep customers informed throughout the repair process, simplifying complex repairs in accessible termsManage invoicing, billing, and ensure all warranty documentation is accurately completedSchedule service appointments and oversee shop workflow for optimal operational efficiencyCoach, train, and mentor mechanics and technicians as neededYour Responsibilities as a Diesel Mechanic Include :
Utilize specialized software and tools to perform diagnostic tests and identify issues in diesel engines and systemsConduct meticulous inspections, following a checklist to ensure all crucial components of heavy-duty vehicles are examinedPerform routine and preventative maintenance tasks, such as oil changes and fluid checksRepair or replace malfunctioning components including engines and brake systems using hand and power toolsEngage in welding and driveline repairs, while observing hot work safety protocolsTest drive vehicles post-repair to confirm proper operation and quality standardsUphold a clean and safe work environment by adhering to all safety regulationsIdeal Candidates Will Have :
A solid understanding of service operations within the heavy-duty trucking industry (Prior experience as a service writer or advisor is highly desirable)A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic or technician, particularly in heavy-duty settingsExceptional verbal and written communication skills, effectively conveying technical concepts to non-technical customersIn-depth knowledge of diesel engine systems, repair methods, and maintenance protocolsProficiency with diagnostic tools and shop management systems (e.g., diesel laptop, Eaton, JPro)Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, capable of multitasking in a dynamic environmentA valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required)Current or ability to obtain CDL Class B or A (required)ASE certifications are a bonusA degree or certification in diesel technology or related field (preferred)Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including basic Excel tasksPhysical Requirements :
This role involves physical activities that may require lifting, pulling, and moving heavy truck parts (over 50 lbs). The job requires frequent walking, bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and pushing.
