Summary :
We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join our team! This position is vital for performing crucial tasks such as specimen collection, receiving, and referrals, ensuring quality and timely service.

- Comply with all regulatory standards, including CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, infection control, safety, and health information privacy.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary working area, restocking supplies as needed.
- Assist in procurement of department supplies in collaboration with the team lead.
- Carry out all phlebotomy duties including specimen collection, receiving, and sending specimens to required facilities.
- Prepare and package specimens for referral to outside labs, ensuring all necessary paperwork and communications are completed.
- Perform a variety of specimen collections including venipuncture, capillary collection, urine drug screens, and cultures.
- Ensure that all specimen requirements are met and maintain specimen integrity during collection.
- Exhibit strong communication skills while interacting with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Utilize the laboratory computer system for documentation of specimen information and patient data.
- Take on additional duties as assigned, including inventory management and special projects.
- Conduct timely performance evaluations and annual competency assessments.
Job Requirements : Education / Skills
High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.Bilingual English / Spanish is preferred.Completion of a Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory, or Medical Assistant program with a phlebotomy focus is preferred.Familiarity with medical terminology, strong computer data entry, and organizational skills are essential.Experience
One year of phlebotomy experience is preferred.Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) is preferred.Phlebotomy Tech (PBT) certification or state licensure is preferred if you are in Louisiana.All associates must obtain the required certifications for their positions within the designated timeframe in accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy.
