Collector - Remote or In Office

Job Summary:

The Collector is responsible for initiating the appropriate action to collect past due balances and record accurate notes on delinquent accounts. This includes high volume phone calls and/or correspondence to assigned delinquent customers in a fast-paced, goal-oriented collections department. The collector will work closely with other collectors and lead collectors in completing claims billing and follow-up collection activities

Job Duties:

• Respond to inquiries in a timely and effective manner and treat customers fairly and consistently
• Working knowledge of the FDCPA, State Collection Laws, HIPAA and how they fit within the revenue management cycle
• Review and update accounts that have been referred for repossession and legal actions against debtors.
• Update customer information such as phone numbers, e-mail, and address
• Negotiates account settlements within established guidelines
• Answer telephone calls regarding account inquiries and payment collection

Skills:

• Strong listening skills must be able to listen and take directions
• Strong negotiation skills
• Basic computer knowledge- excel and word
• Ability to work well in a team setting

Qualifications:

• Satisfactory preliminary criminal history background check determination and a satisfactory drug screening.
• The ability to perform this job successfully and perform each duty essentially.
• Previous experience in third party collections and/or related industry preferred but not required.

Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma and/or GED.
• Minimum of 1 year (recent) work experience in 3rd Party Collections, preferably Medical required.
