Medication Assisted Treatment / Registered Nurse
Location : Brighton, CO
Schedule : Full-time, 32hrs Mon-Thurs
Position Overview
Under general supervision, performs professional nursing health care within the scope of practice for Registered Nurses in a detention / jail setting, to include Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), Intake, and Discharge; performs related work as required or assigned.
Essential Duties
✓ Conduct thorough assessments of patients' medical history, allergies, substance use patterns, mental health status, physical health, and other relevant information to determine eligibility and appropriateness for medication-assisted treatment
✓ Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop individualized treatment plans tailored to patients' continued needs and goals
✓ Coordinate appropriate follow-up and referrals to ensure necessary medical services are scheduled promptly upon admission
✓ Administer medications for medication-assisted treatment and opioid use disorder, such as methadone, Suboxone, and Brixadi injections, as prescribed by the medical provider
✓ Monitor patients for medication effectiveness, side effects, and adherence
✓ Provide education to patients about medication-assisted treatment options, medication administration, potential side effects, and the importance of medication adherence in achieving recovery goals
✓ Educate patients regarding the importance of program compliance and completing program consents and agreements
✓ Monitor patients' progress throughout the course of treatment, regularly evaluating treatment efficacy and modifying treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes
✓ Coordinate care with other healthcare providers, community resources to facilitate comprehensive treatment and support services
✓ Assist with the discharge process, providing patients with appropriate post-release healthcare referrals and assisting in continuity of care planning
✓ Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices
✓ Participate in gathering data and compiling reports to reflect progress and productivity of program
✓ Provide immediate intervention and support to patients experiencing crises related to substance use, including overdose, withdrawal symptoms, or psychiatric emergencies
✓ Stay current with developments in the field of addiction medicine and medication-assisted treatment, participating in continuing education opportunities and professional organizations to enhance knowledge and skills
✓ Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Education / Experience Requirements
✓ Must possess and maintain an unrestricted license in good standing as a Registered Nurse in working state
✓ Two (2) years of nursing experience as a Registered Nurse
✓ One (1) year performing direct patient care and / or acute or urgent care

Employment Requirements
✓ Must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc. for this position
✓ Must have current CPR / BLS certification
✓ Must have current TB test (taken within one year)
✓ Must adhere to all facility policies and procedures as well as the policies and procedures listed in the Employee Handbook
✓ Willing to assist coworkers in the job duties and work overtime if required; may act as a resource to other coworkers
✓ Maintains confidentiality, dignity, and security of health records and protected health information in compliance with HIPAA requirements
Security Requirements
✓ Must undergo security training and orientation on facility safety policies and procedures
Physical / Mental Requirements
This position routinely requires (but is not limited to) the following :
✓ Ability to both remain stationary and move / traverse throughout the facility, including up and down flights of stairs
✓ Ability to position oneself in different spaces
✓ Ability to convey and discern information in a conversation, frequently communicate with patients; must be able to exchange accurate information.
✓ Ability to identify and detect objects and assess situations from a variety of distances
✓ Ability to stay calm in stressful and demanding situations
✓ Frequently transports objects up to 50 pounds
Work Environment
Work is performed inside a correctional facility. Employees are exposed to some level of risk and / or harm by inmates including exposure to blood borne pathogens. Employee is expected to work in accordance with all security rules and regulations to minimize the risk of danger and / or harm to themselves or other employees.
