Job Description
Sarah Lawrence College Department of Biology seeks a part-time guest faculty member to teach one neuroscience course in the spring 2026 semester. We are particularly interested in candidates who can teach Introduction to Neuroscience, but are open to candidates who may want to teach a more specialized open-level course such as Neurological Disorders, Sensory Biology, Drugs and the Brain, or a course in another subfield of neuroscience. Any proposed course should be primarily grounded in the biological sciences rather than psychology or other allied disciplines.
The exact format of the course will be determined in consultation with the successful candidate. Seminar courses are typically capped at 15 students and include a seminar class (meeting 2x / week) and biweekly meetings with individual students to develop a semester-long independent project—conference work—which usually takes the form of a substantial literature review. Lecture courses, capped at 45 students, meet 2x / week and include group rather than individual biweekly conferences.

Compensation for this position is on a per-course basis, contingent on teaching experience. Required Qualifications
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in a relevant field or be within the final year of their doctoral program with undergraduate teaching experience.
