Job description

Overview

The Assistant Director of Risk Intervention Services Work Programs has responsibility for the oversight and management of vocational training and workplace experience development at a professional level for incarcerated individuals. Duties include the design implementation, monitoring and evaluation of educational, industry and work related services. Ensures all vocational services are designed to match key industry training needs for Vermont through research, planning, organization and implementation strategies. Significant coordination and collaboration is needed with multiple internal and external stakeholders. Supervises a team which support incarcerated individuals successful transition to community employment upon release. Responsible for supervision of facility based workforce development coordinators and vocational instructors. Work is performed under the direction of the Program Services Director.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting. Incumbent must be able to interact, work and deal effectively with Department staff, educators, local, state, and federal officials, correctional facility clients, and the general public. Extensive travel required. Evening and weekend work may be required. Many meetings and activities take place within correctional facilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree and professional level certification as an Offender WorkforceDevelopment Specialist and / or Global Development Career Facilitator AND five (5) years or more of professional program development experience INCLUDING three (3) years or more of experience managing broad diversity of project types with phased implementations that include multiple business units, vendors and consultants;

OR

Bachelor Degree and post education training that includes professional level certifications as an offender Workforce Development Specialist and / or Global Development Career Facilitation AND four (4) years or more of professional program development experience, including three (3) years or more at a professional or managerial level, managing a broad diversity of project types with phased implementations that include multiple business units, vendors and consultants;

OR

High school diploma and post graduate career training that include professional level certifications as an offender Workforce Development Specialist and / or Global Development Career Facilitation AND eight (8) years or more of professional program development experience INCLUDING five (5) years or more at a professional or managerial level, managing a broad diversity of project types with phased implementations that include multiple business units, vendors and consultants.

Special Requirements

Employees must possess or be eligible for professional licensure by the Vermont Agency of Education or reciprocating authority, as a classroom teacher, plus an administrator's endorsement in one of the following : Adult services Coordinator, Career and Technical Center Director, Director of Special Education, Principal or Superintendent OR a valid Professional level certificate as an Offender Workforce Development Specialist and / or Global Development Career Facilitator.
