American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Orthopedics position with night shifts and Epic experience required.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a hospital-based acute Med / Surg Orthopedics unitUnit includes 28 beds plus 22 overflow, with a 1 : 5 RN-to-patient ratioPatient population includes orthopedic cases (total knees, hips, shoulder replacements), as well as medical diagnoses such as COPD, diabetes, wounds, IV infusions, dementia, oncology, fractures, sepsis, pneumonia, cholelithiasis, ambulatory dysfunction, appendicitis, acute respiratory distress, CHF, ETOH / drug abuseNo drip titration required; common drips include heparin, IV antibiotics, antithrombics, and narcoticsUnit has support from charge nurses and 1 : 10 nurse aids / patient care techsMonitors located at main nurses' station; tele monitor techs are in ICUUses Epic EMR system; prior Epic experience is preferred12-hour night shifts with self-schedulingRequired to work every third weekend (Friday and Saturday for nights)Travelers may float to PCU and behavioral health unitsNavy blue scrubs requiredCandidates must complete a pass / fail skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%First week includes classroom orientation followed by one 12-hour shift on the unitEmphasis on hourly rounding and bedside shift reportingTravelers must be flexible, self-directed, and open to working with a diverse patient population, including those with mental health and addiction historiesOnly candidates residing more than 50 miles from the facility will be consideredHoliday coverage may be required according to assignment scheduleMust provide requested time off (RTO) upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after submissionReturning travelers must not have worked at any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year\n \n Requirements\n
