Shift : Evenings

General Responsibilities :

Provide operations, maintenance repair and installation of valves in Distribution. To assist the Utility Worker II in repairing leaks, maintenance repairs and installation of valves; haul off spoil from excavations backfilling and restoring the street with temporary paving along with restoring lawns and clean up at the site. Assist in repairing and replacing fire hydrants. The installing of water mains, service lines, and domestic service taps, cutting right-of-ways on for transmission of water mains.

Essential Job Functions :

• Assist Utility Worker II and train new employees Locate leaks and lines within Distribution System Responsible for promoting customer relations Repair leaks on mains Replacing curb stops and copper installations Restore paving and concrete Install repair sleeves and split sleeves Install bracing, blocking and strap fittings, pipes, valves cut and camp mains Operate equipment such as pumps and pipe cutting hand tools, air compressors and radio Replace and repair service lines when necessary
• Replace and install meter boxes as needed Flush mains and service lines after breaks have been repaired Operate all BWWB vehicles as required Calculate the requirements and requisition concrete, road gravel, fill sand and asphalt Responsible for landscaping Ability to read valve map and detail map and shut off water as needed Maintain traffic control in work area to ensure safe work environment Perform disconnect for non-payment, also reactivate services
• Maintain and replace fire hydrants, notify supervisor of fire hydrant part changes, also meet with Fire Department officials when needed May be required to work an on-call schedule outside of normal schedule on a rotating basis as directed Perform other duties as directed

Education :

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Certifications :

Valid Driver's License required

Valid commercial driver's licenses (CDL) class A required

ADEM Grade I Certification preferred

Experience :

One year of experience in the construction area required. Basic computer skills preferred. Excellent customer relation skills and communications skills are a plus.
