Overview
Skims Color Design 3 focuses on product appearance through color, design, and communication. The role executes color design, plans product details, creates seasonal color solutions, researches consumer insights, presents color direction, and develops color design excellence.
Responsibilities
- Color Design Execution – Execute color designs, finalize product details, proactively follow through on color execution for each product, seek expert input, review samples to achieve marketable solutions, communicate changes, maintain color calendar / timelines, develop line art, color server, GPIN, PDM, merchandising line, cutting samples, and coordinate materials with consultants.
- Product Planning – Plan product details, collaborate with design, product marketing, and development / material consultants to focus color solutions for market success, gather category-specific information, and develop solutions regarding quality, cost / value, manufacturability, sustainability, and merchandising.
- Color Solutions – Create and execute innovative, retail-able color solutions for category or gender-specific lines. Create seasonal category-specific color direction, materials, and graphics that reflect design philosophy, product performance, and consumer appeal. Comfortably create category line each season. Understand and apply color, design, market, and lifestyle trends.
- Consumer Research – Know the consumer, culture, brand positioning, competitor products, consumer retail habits, color, and market trends. Apply consumer insights to color solutions.
- Presentations & Communication – Present and communicate category-specific color direction and color merchandising direction of the seasonal line to appropriate groups as needed.
- Skill Development – Develop excellence as a color designer. Advance the level of functional expertise (materials, special effects, technology, advanced development, presentation, and tools). Work proactively with management to advance and build color design skills, experiences, and product & process knowledge.
Education and Experience
Typical qualifications : Bachelors Degree and 2-4 years directly relevant work experience.
Alternative qualifications may include : PhD or law +1 yr; Masters +0-3 yrs; Associates +1-3 yrs; High School +3-5 yrs.
Preferred Qualifications
Substantial product creation experience and can work autonomously.Preferred previous experience in color design and product creation roles.J-18808-Ljbffr
