Job Summary :
The Registered Nurse (RN) - Med / Surg / Telemetry will provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patients in a Medical-Surgical and Telemetry unit. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care for adult patients with a variety of medical conditions, including those requiring continuous cardiac monitoring. The RN will utilize advanced clinical knowledge and skills to manage patients' health, monitor vital signs, administer medications, and collaborate with the healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities :
- Patient Assessment : Perform comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and psychological needs, including monitoring cardiac rhythm and vital signs.
- Care Planning & Implementation : Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient assessment and needs. Administer medications, treatments, and therapies as prescribed.
- Telemetry Monitoring : Continuously monitor patients' heart rhythms, interpret data, and respond appropriately to abnormal findings.
- Documentation : Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, responses, and changes in condition using the electronic health record (EHR).
- Patient Education : Educate patients and families on their diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and post-hospital care, ensuring understanding and compliance.
- Collaboration : Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including physicians, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, and others, to provide optimal patient care.
- Advocacy & Support : Serve as a patient advocate, addressing concerns and ensuring a safe, compassionate, and supportive environment.
- Emergency Response : Respond promptly to medical emergencies, implementing appropriate interventions and notifying the healthcare team as necessary.
- Patient Safety : Ensure adherence to infection control protocols, safety standards, and best practices in patient care.
- Continuous Improvement : Participate in quality improvement activities, staff meetings, and educational programs to enhance nursing practice and patient care.
Qualifications : - Education :
Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
License & Certifications :Current and valid state RN license required.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred or required within a specified time frame.Telemetry certification (or the ability to complete it within a designated time) may be required.
