Our Human Resources Department is looking to hire a Benefit Specialist .

ALL REMOTE POSITIONS REQUIRE A DOWNLOAD SPEED OF NO LESS THAN 100 MBPS.

Job Title : Benefit Specialist

Reports To : Human Resources Team Lead

FLSA Status : Exempt

Department : Human Resources

Division : Retail

Salary Range : $55K to $65K per year

Summary :

This position is under the supervision of the Human Resources Team Lead and is responsible for performing complex duties following established procedures in the following areas : group health, dental, life, short term disability, long term disability, FSA and FMLA and any other benefits offered to employees, and to communicate procedures and regulations to company associates. In addition, this position will gather, evaluate, and analyze a wide variety of data and information related to company benefits program, providing functional and technical support to ensure company compliance with federal and state laws, including reporting requirements and troubleshooting with HR / processing as necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Assists with new-hire orientations.
  • Develop and provide reporting on weekly, monthly, quarterly, or as needed basis; provide census data and reporting to vendors as needed.
  • Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
  • Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
  • Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
  • Enrolls employees with carriers and process life status changes.
  • Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
  • Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork : medical, personal, disability and FMLA and updates the HRIS system accordingly.
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences / disabilities.
  • Reconcile the ACA Report from the HRIS system each year and ensure ACA is submitted timely.
  • Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of data accessed during the course of daily activities.
  • Must have a complete understanding of all company benefits, company policies and procedures as well as a working knowledge of Federal and State Laws.
  • Assists with the health and 401k open enrollment process.
  • Provides necessary reports for allocation / billing charges.
  • Reconciles the monthly carrier invoices and submits to Accounting for payment in a timely manner.
  • Prepares 401k contribution report and submits it within the required timeframe.
  • Assists with annual 401k compliance testing.
  • Completes OSHA 300 Reports
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills :

  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Education / Experience :

    A bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field of study and three to five years of benefit experience, or seven to ten years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience. Experience administering self-funded plans preferred.
