Tax Intern
Our department owns all of the tax responsibilities for federal & state income, premium, sales & use, and personal property taxes. We also collaborate with other Nationwide departments that own the payroll tax, property tax, product taxation, 1099 reporting, and government relations functions.
Since Nationwide's business is domestic focused, we have minimal foreign tax issues that global companies face. However, we do have filing requirements for nearly all states and US territories.
Our tax intern will primarily work with our premium tax team, preparing various tax returns and other calculations, assisting with notices, and other team projects. The role will be exposed to other tax functions such as federal & state income tax processes - through onboarding sessions or tasked assignments. We place a heavy emphasis on continuous improvement in the department, so our interns are encouraged to provide suggestions for improvements and perhaps work on implementing projects.
Desired : Progress toward an accounting or business analytics degree, proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and strong communication skills are required.
This internship will be hybrid or fully remote. Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program. At its sole discretion, Nationwide determines whether to offer sponsorship for qualifying positions based on business need and budget. However, it is not usually available for entry level roles.
