Job Description Summary :
Providence Health & Services is seeking a highly skilled Echo Technologist / Cardiac Sonographer capable of working independently in a one-man department performing a full range of adult echocardiography exams. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent judgment, and comfort delivering studies across outpatient and acute care environments. Travel experience is required, though exceptionally strong first-time travelers with 3+ years of echo experience may be screened.
Expected study volume is 7 8 exams per day .
Responsibilities Adult Echocardiography
Perform complete adult echocardiograms including :
2D & 3D Echo
M-Mode
Color Doppler
Bubble studies
Imaging with contrast agents
Treadmill & pharmacologic stress echo
Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)
Portable studies
RVIT / RVOT evaluation
Clinical Interpretation & Advanced Measurements
Conduct diagnostic calculations including :
Diastology
LV strain / LV volume
PISA (Proximal Isovelocity Surface Area)
Simpson's Rule
Patient Care & Multidisciplinary Support
Work with patients in :
Adult acute care
Outpatient settings
ICU
Follow isolation precautions
Obtain 12-lead EKG / ECG
Collaborate with cardiologists and providers for real-time study interpretation
Technical & Workflow Responsibilities
Document all studies in Epic (required)
Operate Philips echocardiography systems
Support urgent / priority studies as needed
Maintain high-quality imaging and adherence to protocols
Complete patient teaching and preparation
Key Requirements
Must be able to work independently - one-man echo department
Expected volume : 7 8 studies per day
Travel experience required
Strong first-time travelers with 3+ years of experience may be considered
No floating, no call, no weekends
RTO must be submitted & approved during submission
48-hour schedules not approved
Community, acute care, and ICU experience preferred
Locals accepted
Qualifications Education :
Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology program
Experience :
Minimum 1 year Echocardiography experience
Travel experience required (or 3 years strong non-travel echo experience for first timers)
Ability to manage full workflow independently
License & Certifications :
ARDMS or ARDMS RDCS (AE) Required
BLS (AHA) Required
State requirements as applicable
Either ARDMS or RDCS accepted
