Summary :
We are seeking an experienced Utilities Superintendent to oversee pipeline projects in wet utilities, including sewer, water, storm drain systems, and fire lines. The ideal candidate will have at least four years of pipeline construction experience, with at least one year of supervisory experience in wet utilities. This is a full-time, on-site role in Southern California, working with a premier pipeline company specializing in conventional and complex pipeline projects for commercial, industrial, and residential builders, municipalities, and utilities. Responsibilities :
- Plan and implement all aspects of project work, ensuring materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule.
- Review and understand contract and construction documents for completeness and constructability.
- Coordinate with design engineers to resolve discrepancies in plans and specifications.
- Develop and manage project schedules, including three-week and six-week look-ahead schedules.
- Create and manage site logistics plans and ensure the efficient use of company tools, equipment, and materials.
- Collaborate with project partners, superintendents, and other personnel to ensure productivity on job sites.
- Accurately map utilities within the project area using ground-penetrating radar and other locating equipment.
- Complete and maintain detailed and accurate daily reports, field sketches, and forms.
- Serve as a representative for the company, communicating with clients, subcontractors, and third parties during fieldwork.
- Drive, operate, and maintain vacuum excavation vehicles to provide vertical location and mapping of underground utilities.
Coaching, Supervisory, and Development Responsibilities :
Conduct on-site project orientations and effective pre-construction planning sessions.Supervise project partners, foremen, and crews, ensuring job site safety and compliance.Mentor and manage crew members, conducting timely performance evaluations and career development discussions.Address disciplinary issues and participate in hiring interviews as needed.Manage and track work progress and crew productivity, ensuring proper task coding of work hours on timecards.Conduct interviews and ensure proper team member training before starting tasks.Safety Responsibilities :
Report all employee accidents, injuries, and incidents immediately, ensuring proper documentation.Ensure that injured employees receive appropriate medical attention promptly.Oversee the use of safety gear and adherence to safety regulations on job sites.Lead tailgate safety meetings and ensure proper completion of safety forms and attendance records.Manage safety, quality, risk, and compliance for the project, ensuring job site cleanliness and safety.Recognize and mitigate unfavorable working conditions and seek opportunities to improve processes and procedures.Qualifications :
Minimum of four years of pipeline construction experience with at least one year of supervisory experience in wet utilities .Associate or Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil or Architectural Engineering , or Construction Management preferred.A valid CA Driver's License with a clean driving record.Proven time management skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects under tight deadlines.Ability to adapt to changing priorities and timelines with strong problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail.Strong organizational skills with the ability to keep accurate records and follow up on tasks.Must comply with company policies and safety procedures.Perform job safely with respect for others, property, and individual safety.Compensation & Benefits :
