ICU RN Travel Job Details Job Title : ICU Registered Nurse – Travel Assignment (Resource Pool) Location : Roanoke, VA 24014 (Virginia healthcare jobs) Employment Type : Travel Nursing Contract Start Date : December 15, 2025 End Date : June 15, 2026 Contract Length : 13 to 52 weeks (flexible travel nursing options) Shift : Night Shift, 12-hour shifts (6 : 45pm – 7 : 15am) Hours per Week : 36 Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $2020-$2070 Unit : ICU / PCU Resource Nursing Pool Patient Ratios : ICU 2 : 1, PCU 5 : 1 Charting System : Epic EMR Holiday Coverage : Required (see details below) ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or compact state) Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience in a Level I or II trauma center BLS and ACLS certifications required CPI and NIHSS certifications preferred Experience with Epic charting system required Previous charge nurse experience preferred COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical / religious exemptions considered) Ability to float between all ICU and PCU units as needed Comfortable caring for adult and geriatric patient populations Eligible for travel nursing assignment based on distance from facility (see local traveler rules) ICU RN Responsibilities Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill patients in ICU and PCU settings Float between intensive care and progressive care units as hospital needs change (may be reassigned every 4 hours) Manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and ventilators Administer blood products, emergency medications, and titrate cardiac / vasoactive drips Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias, obtain 12-lead EKGs, and follow IV insulin protocols Care for surgical wounds, wound vacs, and patients on BiPAP / CPAP Maintain infection prevention standards and isolation precautions Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, and rapid response Complete required orientation and training modules prior to or during onboarding Work at least one holiday per 13-week assignment (two holidays for winter contracts) Discover rewarding travel nursing jobs in Virginia and enjoy Roanoke’s blend of outdoor adventure, cultural attractions, and a thriving downtown.
