Qualifications :
Completion of accredited professional nursing programCurrent Minnesota registered nursing licenseBLS and ACLS certificationAt least three years of nursing experienceSupervisory experience preferredJob Responsibilities :
Coordinates and directs the activities of the nursing personnel on the assigned shift to facilitate provision of quality patient care.Assesses and provides for staffing needs based on input from department charge nurses, patient classification, scheduled procedures, available staff, and education and experience of the available staff.Coordinates the activities of both nursing and non-nursing personnel to provide for operational efficiency on the assigned shift.Functions as a resource to all staff and during all complex situations.Utilizes communication skills effectively.Displays critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.Assists in maintaining a safe physical environment for patients with workers in accordance with infection control, sanitation, and electrical and fire safety standards.Appropriately manages any discipline and / or counseling situations which occur on the assigned shift.Serves as the on-site management and administrative representative at times when department managers and / or administration are not present in the hospital.Maintains on-going self-development.Maintains confidentiality standards.Demonstrates support for OMC by honoring OMC's core values.Acts in a professional manner consistent with professional codes of nursing.Serves as a positive role model, in and out of the house supervisor role.Responsible for retrieving and mixing needed medications after hours in a sterile hood for continued patient care.Acts as interim surgical assistant in emergency surgical procedures during off hours.Receives and documents patient complaints while maintaining customer service excellence.Other duties as assigned.Equal Opportunity Employer / Protected Veterans / Individuals with Disabilities
