Senior Director of Development, Cancer & Patient Experience (250002YN)
Overview
The Senior Director of Development reports to the Vice President, Major and Principal Giving and is responsible for designing, articulating and implementing a comprehensive multi‑year fundraising strategy for one or more centers of excellence, institutes or programs. The role leads, inspires, and manages fundraising and administrative staff, and is expected to raise $3–5 million per year for each center of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, articulate and implement multi‑year fundraising programs or support strategies for centers, institutes or programs.
- Create and maintain metrics to measure and prove strategy success, aligning with Foundation fundraising metrics.
- Build strong relationships with center leaders, faculty, physicians and Foundation teams to launch innovative donor initiatives.
- Lead the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major donors ($50,000+), aiming for $3–5 million annually per center.
- Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, conducting approximately 110 donor visits annually.
- Recruit, coach, and retain fundraising staff, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Document all activity using Foundation database tools and ensure timely, compelling, accurate proposals.
- Represent the Foundation at high institutional levels, serving as a primary conduit of communication.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to improve organizational effectiveness across departments.
Qualifications
Minimum Education : Bachelor’s Degree (Required)Minimum Work Experience : 12 years (Required)Proven track record of exceptional fundraising activities, including successful seven‑to‑eight‑figure gifts.Extensive experience leading fundraising in large, complex environments.Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with donors, volunteers, institutional leaders and staff.Budget development and oversight experience.Professionalism, compassion, creativity, and integrity, earning confidence of broad constituents.Success building and leading volunteer and professional staff teams, including committees and boards.Strong use of performance data and fundraising analytics.Location and Details
