About the team and the role :
The Global Business Selling team, as part of eBay’s Global Markets organization, is responsible for helping sellers start and grow their businesses on our platform and delivering a value proposition that attracts new sellers and retains them, from small entrepreneurs to global brands. We partner with teams across the enterprise to drive our strategic priorities forward, deliver on our promise and give sellers confidence in being successful, profitable, and protected on our marketplace.
Members of our team have a dual mentality : The first is that of a strategic leader—who has a deep understanding of the dynamics of two-sided marketplaces and how to unlock value through the success of our business sellers. The second is that of someone who can move quickly and decisively as an embedded operator, not afraid to get their hands dirty. We are a team that can flex to business priorities – ‘general athletes’ who learn quickly and drive progress – and relentlessly advocate for the sellers we serve.
We are looking for a Senior Manager of Strategic Initiatives for the Global Business Selling team. This role will report into the head of Global Business and US Consumer Seller Strategy. This person will lead multiple initiatives, most immediately focused on efforts to improve seller sentiment and architecting the value proposition that best serves them. The role is designed to evolve over time to be responsive to the needs of our sellers and priorities as a business – this may not be for everyone. This role is best suited for those who thrive in dynamic, project-based environments, and value exposure and experience to a broad set of cross-functional partners. You will build functional, market and vertical expertise through deep collaboration with related teams, and have a “total business view” through the course of your work.
This role requires post consulting industry experience.
Role & Responsibilities :
Identify the customer needs that drive seller favorability across and sensitive to market dynamics, and create a clear set of priorities to address those needs. Understand eBay’s strategic and competitive positioning and build the case for change. Evolve how we “show up” for our sellers.
Influence roadmap development, and support the successful delivery of outcomes across product, marketing, trust, regulatory and seller operations. Win the hearts and minds of our internal partners to garner support and momentum.
Inform and align on go to market strategy in support of value proposition reinforcement, awareness, and adoption – partnering with product, product marketing, channels, ops and legal
Define and own reporting against key performance indicators along owned initiatives
Who you are :
Strategic, and an operator : You can both translate enterprise goals and seller needs into domain priorities and drive outcomes by inspiring and influencing key partners across the org
Someone with an inclination towards data / evidence, and a high level of comfort with analytical approaches (both qualitative / quantitative) to derive actionable insights
You are especially good at distilling what is important vs. just interesting. You can go beyond articulating an observation and land the “so what?” and the “now what?”
A structured thinker that can break down ambiguous problems into tangible solutions and actionable plans.
An exceptional communicator (verbal and written) who can modulate to different audiences and objectives
An autonomous driver of progress, on balance with keeping leadership and partners engaged / informed
What you will bring :
Demonstrated intellectual curiosity about this area of work (ecomm, marketplace, tech) and empathy / a natural instinct to help our sellers and solve their problems. Experience as a seller (casually or beyond) is a plus.
Creative problem solving skills
You are cooperative and candid, and are able to influence cross-functional partners through domain expertise, quality work, and quality relationships
Contributions to the culture and cohesion of your immediate and extended team
