Description :
Assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of patients being treated.
May be assigned to orient staff and students.
Assesses patient needs and initiates appropriate occupational therapy interventions.
Works cooperatively with interdisciplinary team personnel.
Observes and evaluates treatment effectiveness, and recommends changes to the physician, if needed.
Performs appropriate assessments on each patient.
Conducts accurate and timely quality improvement scoring.
Able to assess pain interfering with optimal function and participation in rehabilitation.
Performs all aspects of patient care in a safe environment.
Reports patient progress and barriers to discharge in team conferences.
Formulates and evaluates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs.
Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency of occupational therapy modalities.
Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.
Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious / spiritual needs of patients.
Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
Maintains department cleanliness and safety.
Interacts professionally with patients and families.
Communicates clearly with physicians, staff, and administrative teams.
Participates in patient / family and team conferences.
Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and functions well under stress.
Maintains a good working relationship with both departmental and other staff.
Consults other departments as appropriate for collaboration in patient care.
Meets current documentation standards and policies.
Documents goals on the Interdisciplinary Care Plan upon patient admission.
Participates in educational staff performance improvement in-services.
Ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered timely.
Participates in infection control and organizational safety programs.
Adheres to dress code and maintains neat appearance.
Completes annual health, safety, and education requirements.
Maintains confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
Reports to work on time and adheres to policies regarding notification of absence.
Attends mandatory in-services and staff meetings.
Represents the organization positively and professionally.
Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the organization.
Maintains current licensure / certification for the position.
Consistently demonstrates guest relations skills to all individuals encountered.
Follows departmental and organization health, safety, and hazardous materials policies.
Participates and contributes to performance improvement initiatives.
Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with privacy laws and reporting protocols.
Takes responsibility for accountability and tasks completion.
Takes ownership of all aspects of duties with reliable, timely performance.
