General Summary :

As a Qualcomm IE-IoT Platform Architecture Hardware Staff Engineer, you will architect, plan, design, optimize, verify, and test electronic systems, circuits, Digital / Analog / RF / optical systems, and test systems, which launch cutting-edge, world class products in the IoT market space. Qualcomm Engineers collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop solutions to meet performance requirements. A successful candidate should have working knowledge and experience in complex system architecture and design within a wide range of topologies from handheld mobile devices to industrial systems. Prior experience in component selection, electrical design, and PCB design, with working knowledge in PCB manufacturing, CCA assembly, and Final Assembly and Test are a plus.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Electrical / Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR Masters degree in Computer Science, Electrical / Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR PhD in Computer Science, Electrical / Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master's Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience with hardware system design, system integration, schematic capture, and circuit simulation software.
  • 4+ years of experience with hardware system validation and measurement instruments (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF tools).
  • 2+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
  • 1+ year in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports.
  • Principal Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Leverages Hardware knowledge to architect, design, develop, modify, and evaluate critical electronic systems, components, and PCB layout for retail and industrial electronic equipment.
  • Collaborates with internal or 3rd party manufacturing POCs to fabricate hardware, leads verification of systems or designs, and ensures platform meets requirements.
  • Guides internal or 3rd party engineering teams on appropriate design methodologies to implement system per required specifications.
  • Conducts detailed reviews and analysis of designs to ensure implementation meets appropriate power, performance, area, compliance, and cost.
  • Coordinates or conducts specialized analyses (e.g., feasibility studies, signal integrity, power integrity, etc.) to verify design performance.
  • Level of Responsibility :

  • Works independently with minimal supervision.
  • Provides supervision / guidance to other team members.
  • Decision-making is significant in nature and affects work beyond immediate work group.
  • Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information. May require negotiation, influence, tact, etc.
  • Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions.

    Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits : $134,800.00 - $202,200.00

    The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants.
