THE ROLE
Casaléna is seeking a skilled and motivated Pastry Cook to join our pastry team. This position supports daily production of all desserts, breads, and baked goods for service and special events.
The ideal candidate brings a genuine passion for pastry, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume, fine-dining environment. You’ll work closely with the Pastry Chef and Executive Chef to ensure that every item produced meets our standards for quality, presentation, and consistency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, breads, and desserts according to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Accurately measure, mix, and combine ingredients, maintaining consistency and precision across production.
- Decorate and plate desserts with attention to aesthetic detail and balance.
- Assist in the preparation of seasonal dessert components, sauces, creams, mousses, and garnishes.
- Support the Pastry Chef in developing and testing new recipes or menu items.
- Conduct and maintain weekly inventory of pastry ingredients and supplies, communicating ordering needs to the Pastry Chef.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation, adhering to food safety and health standards (HACCP).
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance or safety concerns immediately.
- Assist with bread and savory baking as directed (breads, croissants, and other laminated or baked items).
- Collaborate with culinary teammates to ensure smooth service and efficient kitchen flow.

Minimum 2 years of experience as a Pastry Cook or in a similar role within a fine-dining or high-volume kitchen.Strong foundation in pastry techniques, including doughs, custards, creams, sauces, and plated dessert assembly.Baking experience with both sweet and savory items, including breads, croissants, and other in-house baked goods preferred.Strong sense of organization, consistency, and cleanliness in production.Ability to follow recipes precisely and maintain high standards of presentation.Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.Must have or be able to obtain a valid California Food Handler Certification.GROWTH OPPORTUNITY
This role offers a clear pathway for advancement within Casaléna’s culinary team. With demonstrated skill, consistency, and leadership, the Pastry Cook position can progress toward Pastry Sous Chef or Pastry Chef, contributing to recipe development, menu design, and team mentorship across future Avondale Hospitality concepts.
SALARY COMPENSATION
$20.00 – $22.00 per hour, based on experience and technical skill.
This is a non-exempt, part-time position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
