Grant Writer for Human Services Organization
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION : To perform grant research, grant writing, grant program design while supporting grant implementation, compliance, and reporting.
Center for Family Life in Sunset Park, a nationally recognized social service program in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, seeks a Grant Writer to join our agency leadership team. Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills, knowledge, and experience in project and budget management, and will bring a passion for neighborhood-based work to enrich the lives of youth, families, and the community.
I. RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Maintain current public and private funding portfolio through coordinating research, writing, reporting, contract management, and budget development
- Coordinate all components of submissions and assign specific tasks to appropriate staff to ensure timely, accurate completion of funder requirements
- Identify new areas for grant portfolio development by performing research and conducting outreach to funders regarding funding opportunities in line with current agency and community needs
- Organize detailed contractual files to maintain agency-wide operational standards and ensure organizational compliance
- Represent the agency in meetings with public and private funders
- Work with fiscal staff to develop expenditure reports for current grants and to develop budgets for proposed grants
- As a member of the agency's senior leadership team, participate in strategic planning, program evaluation, and development of annual staff professional development retreat
II. QUALIFICATIONS :
Education / Degree minimum requirement : Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferredYears of Experience : 3 years of professional experience in grants writing / management, preferred but not requiredHighly organized and able to manage competing tasks efficiently in a fast-paced work environmentDetailed-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skillsKnowledge and experience in project and budget management is a plusBasic graphic design skills (e.g., preparing photo documents, organizational charts, or other simple visuals) are a plusIII. Work is primarily in a community-based setting in shared space.Most time is spent sitting at a desk using a computer.Expected to attend various meetings with internal and external staff and stakeholders.Some travel throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan is required.Fast-paced, high-energy, and highly collaborative environment.V.
