Position Summary TheDepartment of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences at the University of NewMexico invites applications for a Postdoctoral fellow position. We areseeking a research-focused and experienced individual with strong analytical,organizational, and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate willconduct research in Dr. Islam's lab in the department. Dr. Islam's researchis focus on cornea regeneration including cell therapy.

Thesuccessful candidate will conduct research involving animal models, specificallyusing the rabbit cornea. Responsibilities also include publishing findings inleading journals and conferences, leading group projects, and collaboratingwith both graduate and undergraduate students on research initiatives.

The candidate shouldbe available to start immediately.

The ideal candidate should have :

A record of peer-reviewed publications and prior research experience in ophthalmology, including experience in handling rabbits for ocular research (preferably, but not limited to, studies involving the rabbit cornea) and conducting laboratory experiments.

Demonstrated experience in cell biology techniques. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

• Applicants must hold a PhD in Biological, Biomedical Sciences, Ophthalmology, or a closely related field.
• Eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications :

New Mexico is known as the Land of Enchantment for goodreason. Albuquerque is a culturally richand naturally beautiful city, with good weather year-round, perfect for outdoorenthusiasts. The Sandia Mountain wilderness is 20 minutes from UNM. There is alively arts scene, and we are close to the galleries of Santa Fe and Madrid,NM. There are two national laboratories nearby : Sandia and Los Alamos.
