YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY :

The Assistant Estimator is an hourly entry-level position, working under close supervision to assist Estimators and Project Managers. The assistant estimator has no discretion to vary from established procedures, and plays a role in supporting new project development, including quantifying take-offs, calculating, and compiling data for use in the preparation of proposals.

WHAT YOU'LL DO :

Receives instructions from senior-level estimators to perform data quantity take-offs based on project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents for data entry into the computer estimating system.

Work with existing qualified suppliers / subcontractors to solicit quotes.

Assist in developing and organizing bid package estimate documents.

Maintain files of working documents for backup of estimating assumptions and methodologies.

Distribute bidding documents to subcontractors and vendors at the direction of the Estimator.

Collaborate with other estimators and project managers to ensure the estimate take-offs are aligned with the project's scope of work and requirements.

Perform additional assignments per the supervisor's direction.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL :

Calculate mathematical extensions, read, and understand construction documents

Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary

Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude

Oral and written communication skills as required for the position

Self-motivated and can work independently and as part of a team

Interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others

WHAT YOU BRING TO US :

0-2 years of postsecondary non-degree certificate with experience in construction preferred.

Can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience.

TRAVEL : Up to %

WORKING CONDITIONS :

General work environment - sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning

Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite.

Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
