Sr. Operations Project Engineer

Job Summary :

The Project Engineer will support the safe design and construction of facility projects for Viterra Grain. The design and construction must align with strategic Viterra initiatives, and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local code requirements.

Essential Job Functions :

• Assist with preparation and / or oversight of the development of design and feasibility studies for projects at facilities.
• Develop and review project cost estimates and direct modifications as appropriate and required.
• Prepare and / or review budgets for expenditures on outside consulting engineers and regularly review the work of consultants.
• Prepare bid documents that will include project goals, definition, scope of work and general flow diagrams, design and layout.
• Provide effective and proactive communication with all site leaders.
• Review equipment specification recommendations and review construction bid packages.
• Prepare and / or review and monitor controls on scheduling and project costs.
• Prepare and / or assemble periodic project reports and engineering activity summaries for projects being managed.
• Work with the Director of Engineering, Regional Operation Managers or Project Manager to evaluate, plan and develop capital expenditure projects.
• Ensure capital and expense projects are aligned with business unit objectives and completed safely within scope, schedule, and budget.
• Manage project submission process to include evaluation of projects, review of proposals and advise on project feasibility.
• Provide assistance on review of final project to provide review of meeting project goals, punch list items, commissioning, and start-up.
• Provide assistance to plant locations in identifying and developing projects resulting in added profit or cost savings.
• Always ensure compliance with Viterra safety policies by putting safety before profit and production.
• Demonstrate ability to control scope, cost, and schedule on all assigned projects.
• Lead by example to ensure that safety culture is a natural part of daily duties.
• Communicate and model good business practices that support the company's core values.
