Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Location : New Haven County, Hybrid work schedule (2-3 days in office)
Compensation : Up to $145,000 + Excellent Benefits

Key Responsibilities of the CFO :
Direct financial operations including accounting, grants management, cash flow, forecasting, investments, and reporting.
Prepare timely and accurate monthly / annual financial statements and oversee the annual audit and 990 tax return process.
Lead annual budgeting and long-range financial planning in partnership with the President / CEO.
Manage accounts payable, receivables (pledges / donor revenue), reconciliations, and insurance renewals.
Oversee payroll, HR operations, and benefits administration, ensuring compliance with state / federal requirements.
Provide leadership to finance staff and interns, setting annual priorities and mentoring for growth.
Serve as a senior leader, participating in organizational policy, culture-building, and equity-focused initiatives.
Present financials to the Board of Directors and Finance Committee, translating data for diverse audiences.
Qualifications for the CFO :
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or CPA preferred.
7-10+ years of progressive financial leadership, 5+ years within a nonprofit organization.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, grants management, and nonprofit financial systems.
Demonstrated experience leading audits, managing investments, and preparing board-level financials.
Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and grow accounting / finance professionals.
Technology-savvy with ERP / accounting systems and Microsoft 365 expertise.
Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills with stakeholders at all levels.
