About Coastal Oaks Recovery
Located in the heart of the Lowcountry in South Carolina, Coastal Oaks Recovery is a 72-bed substance-use treatment center serving adults aged eighteen and older. Nestled on five serene acres near the coastal waters and wetlands of Port Royal, Coastal Oaks provides a tranquil environment for individuals suffering from addiction to stabilize and embark on their journey toward recovery and wellness.
At Coastal Oaks Recovery, we offer medically monitored detoxification under the direct care of physicians and nurses, supported by a multidisciplinary treatment team. In addition to withdrawal management, our residential treatment services provide a safe and structured environment for 30 to 45 days, ensuring that each patient builds a solid foundation of recovery skills prior to discharge.
Our evidence-based programming includes group therapy, individual counseling, family programming, and specialized care tailored to meet individual needs. With a holistic and experiential approach, we emphasize safety, collaboration, and a patient-first culture that nurtures recovery and wellness for both patients and staff.
Position Purpose
The Director of Clinical Services oversees all clinical operations at Coastal Oaks Recovery. This role involves providing leadership and direction to clinical and ancillary staff, ensuring that all patients receive high-quality, individualized care in compliance with regulatory standards. The Director is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for program development, clinical staff supervision, and quality assurance initiatives to support the organization’s mission and vision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Oversight
- Provide departmental leadership for all clinical and ancillary staff, overseeing individual, group, and family counseling sessions.
- Manage clinical program development, ensuring alignment with evidence-based practices for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, and coverage for clinical services, ensuring seamless patient care delivery.
- Act as a clinical leader and resource for the multidisciplinary treatment team, physicians, and mid-level practitioners.
Program Development and Implementation
Develop and implement specialized programs tailored to clinical acuity, age, gender, race, and other patient-specific needs.Oversee the design and execution of treatment plans, ensuring all plans are patient-centered and meet regulatory standards.Coordinate patient’s daily schedules, including therapy sessions, experiential treatments, and visitation schedules.Quality Assurance and Compliance
Conduct regular audits of clinical documentation, treatment plans, and departmental operations to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.Develop and implement quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.Maintain accurate and timely departmental records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, The Joint Commission, and state regulations.Staff Development and Supervision
Supervise and provide clinical guidance to therapists, counselors, case managers, and other clinical staff.Oversee the recruitment, training, and professional development of clinical staff.Provide ongoing supervision to ensure staff compliance with policies and procedures.Patient Care and Crisis Management
Provide direct clinical care, including facilitating groups, individual, and family sessions as needed.Support clinical staff in crisis intervention and aftercare planning for patients.Serve as a liaison with families, referral sources, and community resources to support patients’ recovery journey.Administrative Duties
Participate in developing and managing the clinical services budget.Attend executive and committee meetings to provide updates on clinical operations and contribute to strategic planning.Provide on-call support to the facility as part of the leadership team.Skills and Abilities
Strong leadership and organizational skills.Expertise in evidence-based treatment for substance use and co-occurring disorders.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations.Education and Experience
Required : Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.Preferred : Certification in trauma-informed care.Minimum of five years of experience in a clinical leadership role, preferably in substance use or behavioral health settings.Licensure / Certification
Current licensure as an LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or PhD in South Carolina, with credentials to supervise clinical staff.CPR and De-escalation certification (training available upon hire).Physical and Work Environment Requirements
