The Oklahoma City VA Medical Center in Oklahoma is actively recruiting to fill a Board Certified / Board Eligible Staff Geriatric Medicine Physician HBPC Medical Director position in our growing Section of Geriatrics & Extended Care (GEC) Service. The physician will dedicate 30-70% of the time daily, to ensuring the daily operations of our Home-Based Primary Care Program are occurring safely and efficiently. Our program currently serves >

550 home-bound Veterans around Oklahoma City and Lawton, Oklahoma and is the largest HBPC Program in our region. The major aspects of the work are focused on clinical consultation and team collaboration, program leadership, program management, quality assurance, performance improvement, evaluation and supervision of HBPC medical providers, and other specific duties and coverage as assigned. The balance of time will be utilized to manage a small panel of HBPC Veterans and to serve in rotation for other clinical assignments within GEC, as scheduled or assigned. We also remain the primary clinical site for a Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program and the education of medical residents and students throughout the year. Selected candidates may be eligible or encouraged to apply for a volunteer faculty appointment at Oklahoma University Medical School and may be involved in the clinical teaching of medical students or residents from other sites in our community. As an Executive Career Field employee, the selected candidate will report to and work closely with the Chief of Geriatrics and will be a member of the GEC Leaders Group. The duties include but are not limited to : Serve as Medical Director for Home-Based Primary Care Program (HBPC) and Geriatric Care programs with leadership, program management, quality assurance, and performance improvement. Manage Home-Based Care panel of Veteran patients with complicated comorbidity. Provide Oversight of the Geri-PACT Consultation Clinic and the Geriatric Medicine Fellows. Serve as the subject matter expert for home-based and community-based care services for Veterans. Supervise and evaluate HBPC medical providers in Oklahoma City and Lawton OK which may require travel to Lawton. Lead in planning, quality improvement, quality assurance, and program development of HBPC programs. Serve as Chair of HBPC Committee and monthly meetings. Manage the report data related to the HBPC program including clinical and administrative data. Supervise new Geriatric and Home-based Care providers and Fellows at the main Oklahoma City VA and at the Lawton VA facility. Engage in Fellowship training and maintain a university affiliation. The OKC VAHCS is located in Oklahoma City, OK and is the Flagship for the Oklahoma VA Health Care System (OKC VAHCS) - a Joint Commission-accredited, referral level 1b (medium complexity) facility. The Primary Care department serves patients across the spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care for more than 70,000 veterans in an area including 48 counties in Oklahoma and 2 counties in North Central Texas. U.S. Citizens receive preference non-U.S. Citizens may be considered. Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. Preferred Characteristics : Board Certified in Family Practice or Internal Medicine, but Board Eligibility may also be considered. The starting pay is $250,000 - $320,000 per year. A recruitment incentive may be offered, and there is the potential for an annual performance bonus of up to $15,000.
