Scope

Responsibiltes for all ranges of payroll, and payroll accounting, benefits that are encompassed with human resources. Accurately prepares payroll and associated reports and analyzes data to meet business needs.

Job Responsibilities

Executes and manages payroll and maintains all payroll records necessary to administer bi-weekly payroll accurately and effectively.

Ensures compliance with company policies, relevant industry regulations, tax and deduction laws and documentation.

Process payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.

Identifies system workflow or system improvements and provides recommendation.

Audits and reviews benefit deductions to ensure accuracy and completeness and works with vendors directly.

Performs research and analysis and provides recommendations for payroll and benefit related laws, regulations and trends :

Responsible for end of year reporting for taxes and W2s, manages daily interactions with payroll, benefits, and 401k vendors.

Financial analysis of payroll and benefits

Assisting with budgetary needs for payroll

Knowledge of importing payroll into accounting systems

Makes recommendations on procedures and system changes that would streamline process and make it more effective

Is responsible for ensuring computing of pay, withholding taxes, state and local taxes, garnishments, H S A accounts, 3rd party sick pay (FMLA,) and deductions are accurate.

Achieve and maintain compliance with payroll legal and regulatory obligations.

Maintain updates of employees to workers compensation and updates information with vendor.

Documents activities and follow up in appropriate systems regularly and accurately.

May respond to and triage questions on HR inquiries.

Works on projects as needed related to payroll / HR integrations and reporting.

Skills, Licenses, Certifications

Excellent attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines and multitasking

Knowledge of pre-tax deductions (section 125) and FSLA OT (non-discretionary bonuses)

Proficient in Microsoft Office products

Strong analytical and mathematical skills

Excellent understanding of multi-state payroll

Strong mathematical abilities

Knowledge of commonly used payroll, accounting, HR related concepts

Uses independent judgment and decision making to complete some tasks

FPC or CPP designation is preferred

Can demonstrate Brightway values of Smart, Accountable and Trustworthy.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree with 4-6 years’ experience in payroll and / or accounting and human resources; ADP and / or other HRIS payroll experience, workers compensation audits.
