Director-Nursing Adult Services
To direct, manage, and coordinate the operational activities of assigned departments or areas in the hospital and clinics. To ensure that processes and procedures in patient care are in compliance with UMMC and regulatory standards. To provide guidance and leadership in the delivery of optimum patient care.
Education & Experience : Bachelor's degree in nursing and four years of progressive leadership experience. Master's degree preferred. Experience cannot be substituted for educational requirement. Certifications, licenses or registration required : Valid RN license, ANCC certification in nursing administration or ACHE certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Knowledge and understanding of clinical patient care standards and procedures. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and the coordination of people and resources. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal and negotiation skills. Ability to develop and implement measures to maintain a stable workforce. Analytical and conceptual skills. Must be able to implement quality improvement measure and facilitate clinical education. Ability to build and sustain collaborative inter-professional relationships. Responsibilities :
Physical and Environmental Demands : Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, occasional exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and / or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, frequent working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, frequent activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal / clinical nature, occasional work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, occasional crouching / stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing / pulling, occasional reaching, frequent sitting, occasional standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking.
