Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

UHC Minimum :

• Master's degree in an Accredited Nursing Education Program with licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse.
• Licensure to practice in the State of Georgia required by date of first employment.
• Five or more years experience in working with young adults suffering from mental health disorders

Position Summary

CAPS Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners provide age appropriate, time limited, crisis intervention as well as acute, chronic (within the CAPS scope of service), and preventive psychiatric care to students and eligible members of the University community. They provide initial evaluations for psychopharmacological interventions based on the presenting concern, clinical interview, subjective questionnaires, and consultation with counseling staff. Practitioners synthesize objective and subjective data to formulate a conceptualization of the client's diagnoses, primary problem, and basic plan for medication management or other recommended intervention. They also make internal and external referrals as indicated following practice guidelines and CAPS scope of service.

Background working in a setting involved in the training and supervision of counseling and psychotherapy to students in training or post-graduate professionals.

Physical Demands

Sitting for extended periods, talking, hearing corrected to normal, corrected visual acuity adequate to utilize the electronic health record.
