• Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.\n
• Minimum of 1 year of acute surgical, critical care, or acute medicine experience, as an RN.\n
• Completed Perioperative Certificate including clinical placement.\n
• Current certification in BCLS or CPR, or proof of enrolment in a recertification course. You will be asked to provide a copy of your valid certificate at the time of hire / transfer.\n
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.\n
• Available to work all shifts (days, evenings, weekends) and on call duty.\n
• Must have demonstrated ability to work independently and have strong organizational skills.\n
• Must have satisfactory work performance and attendance in present position.\n
• Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload (Physical Demands Analysis PDA available to review).\n
• Medical Surveillance is required for personnel routinely working with mechanical equipment and the class of lasers used in the OR. A hearing test and eye exam must be arranged.\n\nDuties\n
• Utilizes the Nursing Process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.\n
• Provides preoperative teaching to patients & families as required.\n
• Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgment in assessing health needs and in planning, administering and evaluating patient care in the clinic environment (circulating / scrub / laser nurse roles).\n
• Responsible to work collaboratively with other members of the health care team who contribute to the provision of patient care.\n
• Maintains nursing records.\n
• Participates in QI programs to ensure a high level of patient care.\n

• Required Rarely – balancing, climbing.\n\nDexterity\n
• Required Frequently – object handling, gripping / grasping, eye / hand co-ordination, neck, elbow, shoulder, wrist and back normal range of motion.\n
