Job description

Job Description and Duties

Under the general medical supervision of the Respiratory Care Supervisor (RCS), Correctional Facility (CF), the Respiratory Care Practitioner, CF, in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary health care team, assists in the evaluation of pulmonary dysfunction in patients and provides the full range of cardiopulmonary therapeutic and diagnostic modalities. The Respiratory Care Practitioner, CF maintains order and supervises the conduct of inmates and protects and maintains the safety of persons and property.

Minimum Qualifications :

Education : Graduation from an approved respiratory therapy program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care or its predecessor, the Joint Review Committee for Respiratory Therapy Education.

A license to practice Respiratory Care issued by the Respiratory Care Board of California.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and / or appointment. If you are meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts / diploma for verification. Official transcripts may be required upon appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing / evaluation thereafter.
