Job Description :
The Exercise Program Manager is responsible for designing, coordinating, facilitating, and evaluating emergency preparedness exercises that test and improve the multi-hazard emergency operations plan of Texas independent school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, and junior colleges. This position plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with Texas Education Code Chapter 37, alignment with state and federal emergency preparedness standards, including FEMA’s National Incident Management System (NIMS), and Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) protocols.

Work Environment
This position is an office-based role at Texas State University that requires extensive travel throughout the state. This position can expect to travel 45-55 days each fiscal year to conduct tabletop exercises. This amount of travel has the potential to increase as the Center’s planning and exercising program shifts to meet the needs of independent school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, and community colleges. This role also requires the physical ability to lift and move equipment and supplies when traveling to and from exercises around the state. During travel, it is likely this role will work extended hours beyond an 8-hour day and some weekends.
Interview Requirement
Candidates selected for an interview will be expected to prepare a presentation, no longer than 20 minutes, covering a high-level overview of the planning and implementation of a Reunification Annex tabletop exercise (8-hours long, in-person).
