Med / Surg Registered Nurse - Full Time (36 Hours) - No Guaranteed Holiday RTOFT Day / Night Rotation

Job Description

The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient’s episode. The RN on 3 North develops specialized skills in the area of patients admitted for medical conditions, providing care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations. Patient and family education is critical for understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing.

Responsibilities

  • Applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care.
  • Assesses patient / family needs through active listening and analysis of data obtained through direct observation / assessment.
  • Develops individualized plans of care with defined goals and monitors patient progress.
  • Promotes, advocates for, and protects the health, safety, and rights of patients.
  • Teaches and delegates appropriate tasks and interventions consistent with the individual’s education and training.
  • Motivates patients / families and assesses learning styles to maximize understanding during care delivery.
  • Evaluates quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and engages in self-evaluation for professional development.
  • Maintains a meaningful connection with patients / families to create a Healing Environment.
  • Demonstrates skill in application of interventions including medication administration.

    • Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • NYS RN Licensure required
  • BLS, ACLS (AHA or RQI only), NIHSS certifications required
  • One (1) year experience in a Med / Surg environment as a Registered Nurse required

    • Schedule

    This position requires a rotational Day / Night shift of 36 hours per week, with on-call shifts and work on weekends and holidays.
