Overview
Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) at Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI). This role is located at Wright-Patterson AFB and focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining the security posture of the organizations information systems to protect data and infrastructure from unauthorized access, modification, or destruction.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement security architectures and designs for new and existing systems, ensuring alignment with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and organizational security policies.
- Conduct security risk assessments and vulnerability analyses; identify weaknesses and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Evaluate and select security technologies; create and maintain security documentation, including SSPs, SCAs, and ST&E reports.
- Configure and maintain security tools (firewalls, IDS / IPS, SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners); ensure optimal performance.
- Enforce security policies and procedures across systems and networks; integrate security controls into capability development, experiments, and prototypes; automate tasks to reduce human error.
- Monitor security logs and alerts; respond to potential incidents; investigate and remediate security incidents and breaches.
- Participate in incident response activities; develop and maintain incident response plans and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with security standards and regulations (NIST, ISO 27001, HIPAA, PCI DSS, GDPR); maintain a strong security posture.
- Develop and maintain security awareness training programs; collaborate with IT teams and stakeholders; communicate risks clearly to management; mentor junior staff.
Qualifications
8+ years of experience in information security engineering or related roles.Strong understanding of security principles, technologies, and best practices.Experience with security tools (firewalls, IDS / IPS, SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners); knowledge of network security (TCP / IP, DNS, VPNs).Experience with cloud security concepts (AWS, Azure, GCP).Familiarity with scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.Experience with Windows, Linux, and virtualization technologies; knowledge of cryptography.Education
Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field. Alternatively, 8 additional years of relevant experience may substitute for the masters degree.Clearance
Active DoD TS / SCI with in-scope SSBI and SAP eligibility. U.S. Citizenship required.Desirable Skills & Certifications
Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, Security+, GIAC; experience with penetration testing and vulnerability assessment; DevSecOps practices; security automation and orchestration tools.Creative problem-solving, strong analytical skills, ability to work under pressure, and excellent business judgment.Ability to prioritize, work independently, manage multiple projects, and collaborate across diverse teams.Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills across technical and non-technical groups.Perks & Benefits
