Description

The Maintenance Mechanics maintains the safe operation and maintenance of building facilities, electrical, and mechanical systems and plumbing. The department is seeking a candidate to fill the shift : 8 : 00am until 4 : 30pm.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Performs all responsibilities of the Maintenance Mechanic II role : Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, schematics and written technical documents of general machineries to locate area of trouble and complete repairs accurately.Repairs and adjusts doors, windows, closures, panic devices and locks.Patches holes, installs escutcheons, repairs ceiling and floor tile as needed to maintain building appearance.Makes minor masonry and wood repairs.Installs pictures, coat hooks, other wall hung furnishings, and equipment as requested.Responsible for operating and maintaining specific equipment, conducting surveys and inventories, performing preventive maintenance activities, responding to customer complaints, and repairing equipment.May perform daily chemical tests on water systems and adjust chemical mixtures and feed rates.Is responsible for conducting surveys and inventories of buildings and equipment.Enters data into computer systems and databases.Maintains records and files; interprets applicable regulations and filing and auditing policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.Ensures compliance with applicable regulations, policies and procedures.Practices all applicable safety regulations and uses personal protective equipment as required.Responds to customer requests and complaints in a timely and appropriate manner; identifies and records need or problem and determines best approach to resolve situation following departmental guidelines.
• In addition to Mechanic II responsibilities, participates in the onboarding and training of all staff.
• Provides guidance to staff to ensure work orders are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Assigns and schedules work.
• Operates and maintains building facilities, systems and equipment related to plumbing, electricity, HVAC, and steam control.
• Operates and maintains building equipment and systems such as vacuum systems, control air systems, building air systems, emergency generators, electrical distribution systems, liquid pumping systems, steam, air handling systems, hot / cold water systems and natural gas and fuel oil systems.
• Performs related duties as required.

NOTE : Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
