Job description

About this role :

The Legal Counsel is responsible for review and negotiation of commercial s ales agreements in North A merica . Th is role includes interfac ing with Gartner 's customers (procurement and legal departments ), Gartner's s ales organization, l egal organization, f inance organization and operating business units to ensure compliance with legal requirements, interna l policies , and commercial legal standards .

What you'll do -

Support Sales teams in reviewing customer negotiations, Requests for Quotes (RFQ), Requests for Proposals (RFP ) and other forms of solicitations for Gartner services; preparing, communicating and negotiating exceptions to proposed contract terms using corporate guidelines, where applicable, and assisting ancillary information requests related to contractual and business matters

Review and negotiate Sales Contracts (master agreements and transactional agreements) , Purchase Orders, Amendments , NDA's etc ., including on customer contract templates

Manage Gartner's contracts and contractual relationships within assigned territory , including certain ancillary administrative tasks related to negotiations

Understand and communicate contractual requirements to internal stakeholders, including data capture of negotiated clauses.

Work with other members of Gartner's legal team (e.g., IP, Privacy) on negotiations and strategies for non-standard terms and finalizing agreements and RFPs

Answer inquiries from and propose problem resolution for Gartner's internal partners (e.g., finance team for booking and a ccounts r eceivables issues , business u nit deal teams )

Successful ly resolve multiple active c ontract negotiation s in a timely manner

Proactively identify and liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate protection of Gartner's interests, while concentrating on the issues that really matter

Negotiate with senior customer management

Protection of Gartner's intellectual property and limit Gartner's liability

Build and maintain relationships with customers and Gartner a ssociates

Quickly gain an understanding of Gartner services

What you'll need -

Law degree - JD\ LLB \ LLM equivalent and approximately 2-3 years of professional experience

License d to practice in at least one US state is highly preferred

Strong contract reading comprehension and interpretive skills

Expertise in contract drafting and negotiation and ability to handle numerous active negotiations in parallel

Client-facing experience negotiating contracts with client legal & procurements departments is preferred

A bility to influence others / e xcellent communication skills developed in a sales - driven or similar time-sensitive environment , including interpersonal skills to handle pressure from sales and consulting management

Willingness to assume responsibility and adaptability for the role, including problem-solving independently and attention to detail, while displaying a sense of urgency to the business

Ability to prioritize workload based on value of business to Gartner versus complexity of negotiation , while working to month-end and quarter-end sales deadlines

Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Knowledge of or abil i ty to quickly learn CLM systems and technology tools

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 92,000 USD - 131,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
