The Quality Engineer is responsible for providing quality guidance and technical support within the plant as well as to customers. Responsibilities will include ensuring product compliance as well as leading and participating in continuous improvement activities.
Responsibilities :
- Must follow Ahlstrom's manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable, to the position’s areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each product grade.
- Acts as a technical resource to support the efforts of Sales and Marketing, Manufacturing, Product Development and Quality / CTS.
- Monitor and analyze internal quality data with the goal of product optimization
- Oversee incoming raw material specifications and certifications.
- Manage supplier quality – including : conduct supplier audits and evaluations, facilitate submission of supplier corrective action requests with response documentation and follow-up.
- Ensure compliance for certifications – FSC, ISO
- Lead the development of new lab test procedures and the completion of lab equivalency testing
- Supervise resource(s) assigned to technical day-to-day and project based work
- Promote the quality management system by providing a basic understanding of requirements, specifications, test protocols, etc…
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement efforts
- Lead and participate in problem solving activities
- Support customer claim investigation
- Other duties as assigned
Work Experience :
Bachelors Degree in Scielce or EngineeringApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basisMinimum 2 years of experience in applicable technical, manufacturing, product development, preferably in the web coating or chemical industry is preferable; internship experience will be consideredGood written and verbal communication skills as well as teamwork skillsFluent written and spoken EnglishMust have strong analytical, statistical, and experimental skillsProficient in Microsoft programs with the ability to learn other softwareAbility to identify, prioritize, and drive multiple initiatives on an on-going basisAbility to travel up to 20% of the timeSome weekend and holiday work, as necessary
