Overview
Interventional Radiology (IR) is a busy procedural department performing a range of techniques which rely on the use radiological image guidance (X-ray fluoroscopy, ultrasound, computed tomography [CT] or magnetic resonance imaging [MRI]) to precisely target therapy. Most IR treatments are minimally invasive alternatives to open surgery. Interventional Radiology serves to coordinate services to clinics throughout the organization, such as nephrology, urology, gastroenterology, cardiology, oncology, vascular surgery and gynecology. RN's will work shoulder to shoulder with a multi-disciplinary staff who address all facets of IR. There is a large case volume of basic IR procedures, including central venous access, image-guided drainage, dialysis access maintenance, IVC filters, nephrostomy and gastrostomy placements.
This department is M-F, 10 hour shifts some "On Call"
Responsibilities
The Clinical Nurse is an engaged and credentialed member of the Professional Nursing Organization and is responsible for autonomous practice directed by the professional tenets of practitioner, leader / decision maker, scientist and transferor. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide evidence-based care and to continuously monitor and evaluate practice to ensure safe passage of patients that is in the best interest of populations served.
