Job Title
Job Requirements : Utilizes knowledge of FMSCA regulations and logs as it relates to each task. Transports goods long distances to customer ensuring on-time pickup and delivery using a semi-tractor (sleeper cab) and trailers (dry van, Conestoga, or scrap trailers). May be a backup for regional drivers. Maintains accurate logs using ELD's (electronic logging devices) and delivery records in accordance with company and DOT standards. Regularly travels over 200 miles per day. Requires overnight travel. Proactively communicates any problems with pickups or deliveries to Dispatcher. Plans routes to ensure the best use of time. Reviews any deviations with Dispatch. Presents a positive image of the company to customers by dressing appropriately, acting professionally, maintaining a clean and neat appearance of self and company property, and being courteous. Verifies to ensure complete shipments are delivered to customer. Reports any deviations (overages, shortages, or damages) to Dispatch or Logistics Manager. Obtains proper paperwork from shipper. Turns in all paperwork to Dispatcher via the lockbox when loads are complete, no later than the Sunday of every week. Responsible to load securement. Performs required pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily. Reports defects to safety, Dispatch or Logistics Manager. Reports all traffic accidents to Freight Safety or the Logistics Manager immediately. Operates independently to ensure customer deliveries are on time. Follows any additional customer guidelines which may include OSHA requirement (i.e. wheel chocking or wearing hard hats). Performs all tasks according to specified FMSCA regulations, in order to ensure the safety of self and the public. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
Other Experience and Qualifications : Knowledge of DOT regulations and log requirements and 3 to 5 years and 350,000 miles of commercial driving experience. Possession of Class A driver license and a satisfactory driving record required. Ability to travel short and long distances. Ability to work independently. Proven ability to follow safe driving practices. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
