Job description

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Irrigation Operator to support our hay harvesting and field operations on irrigated farmland. The role involves operating tractors and maintaining surface and pivot irrigation systems, along with performing other general farm duties.

Candidates must have prior experience in farm operations, be mechanically inclined, and capable of working independently in a physically demanding outdoor environment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Operate and maintain irrigation systems, including pivots, risers, and valves.
  • Operate tractors and other farm equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect equipment daily and perform routine maintenance.
  • Identify and report mechanical issues to supervisors.
  • Attach and adjust farm implements (e.g., plows, sprayers) using tools.
  • Monitor machinery during operation and take corrective actions if needed.

Required Qualifications :

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

    • Applicants outside the U.S. or without proper work authorization will not be considered.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
  • Previous experience in a similar role : irrigation operator, farm laborer, farm equipment operator, or agricultural worker.
  • Working knowledge of agricultural equipment and irrigation systems.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions with attention to detail.

    • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Certification in Surface or Spray Irrigation (SI) is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in plowing, planting, harvesting (combining), fertilizing, and recordkeeping.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.

    • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull heavy objects.
  • Capable of bending, stretching, and working in variable weather conditions.
  • Good coordination and timing when operating machinery.
  • Strong peripheral vision and ability to work in low-light conditions during early or late shifts.
